Tarmac, a leading force in sustainable building materials, is looking for a driven and experienced Mechanical Project and SME Engineer to join its high-performing team at the Linford Block Plant near Stanford-le-Hope, Essex.

The role is ideal for engineers passionate about driving reliability, improving asset performance, and applying condition monitoring and root cause analysis (RCA) to optimize operations.
Key Responsibilities
As a mechanical project engineer, you'll:
- Lead short- and long-term asset improvement strategies (1–5 years)
- Implement risk-based maintenance and written schemes of examination
- Support project planning and execution with expert mechanical input
- Deliver compliance with CDM regulations and health & safety standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, assess, and improve equipment reliability
- Mentor technicians and apprentices on hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating machinery
- Analyze and refine job plans through CMMS and project management tools
Required Qualifications
- BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience with industrial maintenance engineering in heavy industries
- Knowledge of compressed air systems, gears, bearings, and lubrication methods
- Competence with NDT techniques and system diagnostics
- Familiarity with engineering project software and reliability tools
