Senior Earthworks Engineer | Civil Engineering & Demolition - Are you an experienced earthworks engineer or civil site engineer looking to take the next step in your career?
Haywood Crushing Demolition Ltd (HCD), a leader in the UK’s earthworks and demolition industry, is expanding due to consistent year-on-year growth.
We are seeking a qualified Senior Earthworks Engineer to join our operations, working across both our earthworks and demolition divisions.
This is a dynamic, hands-on position ideal for professionals with a strong background in topographic surveys, setting out for civils, and volumetric reporting.
The successful candidate will support and lead project engineers, ensuring precision, compliance, and quality across all active job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting topographic and volumetric surveys using advanced tools.
- Producing as-built drawings, cut and fill analysis, and weekly/monthly reports.
- Setting out for major earthworks and civils projects.
- Overseeing freelance engineers and site-based personnel.
- Managing machine control models via Trimble GPS, LSS, and AutoCAD.
- Preparing and reviewing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Supporting demolition operations through materials quantification and foundation analysis.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven background in civil engineering, earthworks surveying, and construction site engineering.
- Proficient with AutoCAD, LSS software, Trimble systems, and GPS-based layout tools.
- Understanding of subterranean drainage, ground slabs, and foundation demolition.
- Valid CSCS card and either SSSTS or SMSTS certification required.
- Comfortable with national travel and occasional overnight stays (accommodation provided).

- Office based in Hereford, with flexible schedule (2–3 days office / rest on site).
- Competitive salary in the range of £45,000–£60,000, negotiable based on experience.
